The Child Lock is a feature on the remote. When you activate it, it locks the remote's buttons. This stops children from accidentally changing the settings or turning the unit on or off.
Placing large furniture like a bookshelf or TV under the unit can block the airflow. This stops the conditioned air from circulating through the room properly. It can also interfere with the signal from the remote control.
